Dearest Caroline,
You are 9 months old already. Gosh I can hardly believe it. This month you have become a busy little girl. It felt like over night you went from being a pretty slow crawler and mostly playing wherever I set you down to being a girl on the move with exploration as your goal! You are such a happy baby and smile so easily. You laugh at your brother and sister especially when they are laughing. You are ticklish under your chin and the inside of your legs! You love, "If you're happy and you know it!" On the 4th of July, you went from sitting to standing for the first time. You will wave hello to others and you are a complete jabber box! Most of your words start with the /m/ sound so it's fun to think you are saying, mom, more, Marley, and Madelyn. You love eating. You grunt to demand more and you beg just as bad as the dog! You routinely rip off your bib when you are all finished with your food. One night, when we were all eating together, you ripped your bib off and looked around, and it sound just like you said, "All done!"
On this day, you heard the camera click on and flashed me a big smile. You love this red stuffed animal dog that James named, "Lovey dovey."
Pool time is the best time to you! Sometimes Madelyn and James will be swimming and I'll walk near the pool with you to talk to them. Your little legs and arms start moving in excitement.
Splashing is your thing!
You love pulling all of your toys out of the toy box.

Getting better and better at standing

You pretty much insist on feeding yourself! You love all food and eat three meals a day. Bananas are the only food you haven't liked so far. You nurse 4 times during the day and are still wake up in the night from time to time to visit me.

You had dinner poolside while Madelyn practiced. You are so easy going. No problem.
We put you in the little car and you thought it was the best!

You love checking out our faces (read: sticking your fingers in our mouths and eyes) and pulling hair!

You are my training buddy for the half marathon coming up! Sometimes your brother and sister join us too!
You love taking baths. You play in the faucet water and put your whole face into the tub water.
It's getting to be a lot of fun to take you to the zoo. Here you are with your brother, sister, and 'cousin' Betty. You noticed the birds flying overhead in the aviary and loved watching the fish swim.
We had your 9 month well check and you are growing and developing just as you should! Unfortunately, like your brother and sister, you are anemic. We started giving you a daily vitamin with iron in addition to an iron supplement. Hopefully when we go in for your 1 year appointment we'll find out you are up to normal.

Caroline I couldn't ask for a smarter, happier, more beautiful third baby. You are the baby I always dreamed of and watching you grow is the very best thing ever. Sometimes I stare into your sweet face as you rest in my arms, nursing at bedtime, I often don't want to lay you down, because I know - tomorrow you will be one day older. One day closer to being a one year old. Thank you for being the sweetest.
