Amsterdam

Amsterdam is such an interesting city, and I feel so lucky that we were able to spend a weekend there. It was such a place of contrasts. The architecture was beautiful. I loved the canals and boathouses. The bicycle vibe and the laid back nature of the locals was charming. We ventured into the red light district and smelled smoke billows of 'wacky tabacky" and saw the 'window ladies'. It was a small part of the city, but oh so different! We toured the canal house where Ann Frank's family hid for over two years and saw the Van Gogh museum. Saturday brought awesome weather and we enjoyed all of the outdoor cafes and people watching that was provided. The one big downer in my opinion of Amsterdam was cigarette smoke. It was EVERYWHERE. You didn't even get fresh air outside and we were entertaining ourselves by counting how many smokers you could see at any given time. Sad really....

We arrived in Amsterdam and headed out to explore. A canal pub with yummy Belgium beer!

Amsterdam is a bicycle city and has over 600,000 of them

I loved the canal houses!

It was rainy and windy waiting to get into the Ann Frank House. Joe's head was cold so Jessica give him her scarf! True love.
