My sensitive, sports loving, video-game playing little boy is 7. You are a friend to all. You are my cuddler. With your sisters, you are both the provoker and the peacemaker. You hate seeing anyone upset (well unless upsetting said person was your goal.HA!) . And you don't always know what to do with your own upset feelings. Let me tell me all about your perfect little self because we love you so much!
- You are doing so well in first grade! You are reading books to us every night and I'm amazed by words you can figure out. You love me reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid to you. Math might be your strongest subject. You think writing is tough and can be a little perfectionist about your letters, words, and drawings and get frustrated that your work doesn't match what you think it should.
- You love playing kickball, dodgeball, tag, and hide n seek.
- Your best friends are Chase Scherbert and Ben Zimmerman. You would have them over every day if you could and you pretty much alternate having one or the other spend the night each weekend. You are a good friend. I've heard you say things like, "What do you want to do next? We could ride hoverboards. You can ride my sisters. Or mine if you'd feel more comfortable with that."
- You love sports and you love winning. Almost a little too much. You can get frustrated if you don't think you are the very best player or a game is not going your way. You are too hard on yourself. We love watching you play! This year you joined soccer for the first time and scored a few goals even! You always hussle and absolutely love playing with your friends. You played T-ball in the summer and recently joined a select team - that you even had to try out for. Dad said you were the strongest hitter on the team! You just finished up your basketball season and had a blast. You loved getting your hands on the ball and made some nice shots. The coach reminded you to work on your short game before the long ball. You were taking some deep shots!
- You are a good sleeper and share your bed with Caroline most of the time. You fall asleep first and sometimes are subjected to her antics. One time she got ahold of a marker and colored all over herself, the sheets, and the next day I discovered your nipples were filled in orange. Oops. You are pretty darn patient with her at bedtime.
- You are an early riser and enjoy your morning alone time. You get on your tablet to watch a little WWE wrestling or Fortnite and help yourself to chips or pretzels.
- Your eating habits drive me crazy! You don't really like much - except things most kids wouldn't. You love brussel sprouts, asparagus, sushi and seafood. I'm super proud of you about that, but you won't eat tacos, spaghetti, most meat, potatoes, noodles if they have any sauce, etc. etc., etc.
- As a six year old, you loved going to Brewer's games, Bucks games, and your first Wave game. It has been so fun to see you get excited about your favorite players and cheering on your teams. You were able to met Christian Yelich at baseball camp this past summer.
- We were able to spend time with your cousins Ethan and Taylor and everyone had private conversations with me pointing out how good you were with the little ones. Fun. Patient. Engaging.
James I want you know you can do anything you set your mind to. I hope you always find comfort in a good snuggle and hug. Be the best version of you, because it's pretty darn great! I love you to the moon and back and all around the world sweet boy!
