James is 23 Months old!

Dear James,
You are 1 month shy of being 2 years old!    Every day you show me you are more and more of a little boy and less and less of a baby. You amaze me with what you know and understand (You were pointing out and saying Moose to me today. You will follow my directions to go into another room find a specific item and bring it back to me). You warm my heart with your snuggles. You make me laugh with your silliness.

Let me tell you about your perfect little self!
- You are talking more and more. I'd guess you have between 150-200 words and you will put two words together. You say please often and tilt your head to the side and flash the sweetest little face that suggests you'll just die if you don't get what you want...you are usually asking for some sort of junk food!
- You love trucks, trains, cars, and airplanes. You ask to wear a 'fly' or 'choo-choo' shirt almost daily.
- You LOVE toothpaste and brushing your own teeth. You sneak into the bathroom to brush your teeth at any chance you're given. I hate it because you climb on the toilet onto the bathroom counter!
- You love books and being read to at bedtime. We laugh together a lot at this time. You think it's hilarious to push my 'kiss button.' You try to put your pacifier in my mouth. You are so ticklish and will tell me 'don't' if I'm tickling you, but you actually love it!
- When asked to sing your abc's you sing, "A, B, C." I guess you are pretty literal!
- You pray for your family members each night, including Cosmo (Joe and Jessica's dog). I don't think I taught you this! It's fun to see you thinking of things on your own!
- You love to snack. You open the pantry and will try to climb the shelves if we won't give you what you want. You ask for crackers and nuts (which is trail mix....you pick the m&ms and raisins out to eat...you don't even want the nuts!). In your mind snacking is fine immediately after declaring yourself, 'All done" from a meal.
- You love fruit and any kind of berries. Everything else is okay. You might eat it one day and then the next day you get super upset when it's served to you!
- You like to sit on the potty....for about 2 seconds. So far nothing has happened!
- You love your bed and willing go to bed (~7:30) and you nap for 3 hours usually. When asked if you are ready to go to bed, you almost always say yes.
- You would play on our phones or iPad all day if we'd let you. You find your way onto YouTube and watch videos (like Wheels on the Bus) and random videos of cats) independently.
- You wipe out. A lot. You trip and head dive into end tables. You go flying into doorways. You have a bruised head...a lot. I had my worst experience as a mother this month. You fell down the basement stairs and landed on the cement floor. It was terrifying. You cried and your head swelled immediately. I was certain you needed to go the the ER, but Dr. Hing's nurse told me to watch you for symptoms of a concussion, which thankfully, you had none. During your nap, I woke you every 20 minutes. I was so scared you were going to have something go wrong.

- You adore your sister and want to do what she is doing most of the time. You two are playing together pretty well these days!
- You are a maniac in the water. You dunk your head in, paddle your arms, and kick your legs. You do badly want to be able to swim without me! You are wild in the bathtub too. I had to get you out the other night because you kept dumping water out of the tub....and on me.
- You get very angry when things do not go your way. You drop to the floor. You are a stinker about sitting in your car seat if you decide you've been on and out of the car too much. You arch your back and cry! Thankfully, this doesn't happen too often!

James you are my happy go lucky little guy. You are a dare devil. You love hiding and being chased. You laugh all of the time. My wish is that you are always brave enough to chase your dreams and that laughter and happiness are always such a huge part of who you are!
